Job Summary:
Provides direct supervision of a group of children in a seasonal day camp. Provides a quality experience to children and parents focused on YMCA core values: honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervises a group of children.
- Plans and implements program activities and lesson plans that are culturally relevant, developmentally appropriate and consistent with YMCA values.
- Organize and lead a variety of small and large group activities each week. Activities may include crafts, nature, songs, games, opening assembly, swimming, clubs, field trips, special events, etc. This includes time spent on the bus.
- Adheres to program standards including safety and cleanliness standards.
- Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergencies.
- Maintains positive relations with parents and other staff. Models relationship-building skills in all interactions.
- Maintain a positive working relationship with camp staff and management.
- Interpret health and safety regulations to the group.
- Offer guidance and support in-group and camp wide activities.
- Model proper YMCA Core Values, Character Development, and Mission.
- Have a complete knowledge of emergency procedures appropriate for the site to ensure the safety of the children and record as required.
- Know, enforce, and follow all safety guidelines associated with the camp and all program areas. This includes but is not limited to being responsible for your campers’ safety and their whereabouts at all times.
- Maintain equipment and cleanliness of facility, equipment and supplies.
- Attend all staff meetings and training sessions as requested or required.
- Present professional appearance and attitude at all times, maintains a high standard of customer service.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience working with children preferably in a day camp setting
- At least 16 years of age, 18 years of age to be listed as a driver.
- CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and Child Abuse Prevention training within 30 days of hire date. Driving training within 30 days of hire, if 18 years of age.
- Previous experience with diverse populations preferred.
- Must have the physical ability to lead and participate in camp activities which include, but are not limited to, hiking, canoeing, swimming, team building initiatives, building campfires, physical games, and activities.

- Implements After-School curriculum within the established guidelines.
- Assist in the supervision of children, classroom, and all activities always maintaining child/staff ratios and within the requirements.
- Must be willing and able to drive a 15 passenger van.
- Handles and resolves child care concerns and informs supervisor of unusual situations or unresolved issues
- Helps maintain the safety of participants.
- Engaging children in activities by participating in activities.
- Maintains program site and equipment.
- Work in conjunction with lead teachers and other staff, to provide a fun interactive learning environment or all children.
- Consults with and informs Head Teacher/Program Director of all concerns regarding child development and parents concerns.
- Maintains required program records and assist in maintain classroom ratios.
- Attends and participates in program activities, staff meetings, and staff training.
- Presents a professional appearance and attitude at all times; maintain a high standard of customer service.
Qualifications:
- At least 21 years of age (required)
- CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and Child Abuse prevention training within 30 days of hire date.
- Previous experience working with children in a developmental setting preferred.
- Ability to plan, organize and implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities.
- Previous experience with diverse populations. Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds.
- Holds and maintains a valid drivers license
- Enrolled and remaining current in the Oregon Criminal Registry.

Job Summary:
Maintains safe swimming conditions in the pool, deck, and surrounding areas. Creates a safe and positive atmosphere that promotes member safety and engagement in accordance with YMCA and state policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintains constant surveillance of the pool area.
- Responds promptly and appropriately when rescue or first aid is necessary.
- Knows/reviews all emergency procedures and responds to emergency situations immediately in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures. Completes related reports as required.
- Maintains effective, positive relationships with the members, participants, and other staff.
- Knows, understands, and consistently applies safety rules, policies, and guidelines for the pool and aquatic area.
- Maintains and records accurate records as required by the YMCA and/or the state Health Department code.
- Performs equipment checks and ensures appropriate equipment is available as needed.
- Checks the pool for hazardous conditions when arriving.
- Performs chemical testing at appropriate times of the day, as required, and takes appropriate action.
- Report to work in appropriate dress and ready to assume responsibilities.
- Knows, understands, and practices Emergency Action Plan in event of an accident or incident. Completes accident and incident reports.
Qualifications:
- Minimum age of 15.
- Previous aquatic experience is preferred.
- Certifications: CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, Basic First Aid certification.
- Current (YMCA Lifeguarding or Red Cross Lifeguarding) or any Recognized Lifeguard Certification.
- Ability to maintain certification level of physical and mental readiness.
- Ability to pass lifeguard water test.
